Description

[Early 20th Century]: Looking east down Irving Park Road towards Narragansett, the Dunning Post Office is shown on the right next to a real estate office. The post office is located across the street from the County Farm/Insane Asylum. An Irving Park streetcar is seen heading for the turnaround about a block or two west on Irving.

[Early 21st Century]: Looking east down Irving Park Road towards Narragansett, the Dunning Post Office is shown on the right next to an electronics store. The post office is located across the street from Dunning Square Shopping Mall. The Jefferson Park Route of an Irving Park bus will take you to Jefferson Park Station where you can transfer buses, catch the EL Train or even the Metra. Blue line east to Forest Park, west to O'Hare International Airport.

Interesting! I wonder, do you have any for what had been the more rural portions of NYC? I ask because of all the hype over hurricane Sandy.
