Adobe will always support Linux, what you see is a computer generated message. A human really didn't type that.
When they "still support backports" they mean they still allow backwards compatibility to the folks who don't want to upgrade their Linux to the latest. It's Geekish or Nerdanian, and a somewhat obscure dialect at that. Be thankful they're not speaking acronese.
Hackers can and will steal Flash code, and there will be a 99.9% compatible Flash if it doesn't, and nevermind the lawsuits, the business lost because of the lack of Flashplayer's need will hurt worst. It's in Adobe's best interest to maintain Linux support.
I was messing with Gnash and it seemed to work well for streaming audio and video, but some "flash sites" seemed to break hard on it. I really think that things such as focus on HTML5, Gnash, JS and other OPEN platforms will absolutely be to the benefit of everyone. Fuck this proprietary corporate bullshit.

I am just under the opinion that Adobe is being retarded.
YOUTUBE = "streaming audio and video"
I said I got GNASH to *work* with YouTube. IE: I didn't need Adobe Flash Player. Get it?
Why not go read up on what GNASH is
